This fascinating trip starts early in the morning when you meet at the reception of your hotel to our Cuye Travel Peru representative who will transfer you on our tourist bus and head to Cusco’s train station. On your 2-day trip to Machu Picchu, as soon as we leave the train station, the open landscape, mountains and landscape will captivate you during your train journey. Eventually, the train will stop at km 104 at Chachabamba at 2200 m.s.m. and we will descend to start walking to the nearest section of the Inca Trail. At this stage, we will have to register in the control of the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu and, and walk for around 4 hours, until we arrive at an impressive Inca site called "Forever Young". This Inca site is known in the native Quechua language as 'Wiñay Wayna' at 2,680 m / 8,792 feet above sea level, and is considered one of the most beautiful Inca sites claimed by foreign travelers. From here you can appreciate the Urubamba river and a variety of orchids that surround the landscape. We will have a lunch on this location and after a short break, we will continue the route to Intipunku (Sun Gate) at 2,730m / 8,792 ft. From this fantastic location, you will get a panoramic view of Machu Picchu at 2,400m or 7,873 feet and walk in direction to this incredible ancient city.
But before entering to Machu Picchu, our first stop will be in the town of Aguas Calientes, next to the legendary Inca royal city. In this city we will spend the night in a comfortable hostel where we will later have dinner in a typical restaurant. We will try to go to bed not too late to be able to leave again very early in the morning to the site declared by Unesco as World Heritage.
